Who is Emmett Shine?

Emmett Shine's name has become synonymous with innovation and visionary brand development. From his humble beginnings to co-founding Gin Lane and ultimately establishing Pattern Brands, Shine's relentless pursuit of excellence has reshaped the way we approach branding in the 21st century.

From an early age, it was evident that Emmett Shine possessed a spark of creativity that set him apart. Growing up in an artistic household in Long Island, Shine developed an early appreciation & talent for art, photography, and graphic design. In 2000, he moved to New York City to attend Tisch School of Arts at NYU. He quickly realized that accruing thousands of dollars in debt for college tuition wasn't worth it. He dropped out before his senior year and began work as a freelance creative. Through his creativity & raw talent, Shine started to gain a reputation and began working on high-profile projects for major brands. In 2009 Shine co-founded the influential creative agency, Gin Lane.

Gin Lane and Beyond:

Gin Lane, now known as Pattern, was a trailblazing agency that disrupted traditional branding conventions. With Shine at the helm, the agency focused on creating authentic, compelling narratives for emerging direct-to-consumer (DTC) brands. This approach resonated profoundly with clients and consumers alike, giving rise to a new era in brand development.

Under Shine's leadership, Gin Lane crafted groundbreaking campaigns for notable brands such as Harry's, Sweetgreen, and Everlane. Each endeavor demonstrated a profound understanding of modern consumer behaviors, blending aesthetic brilliance with strategic foresight.

In 2019, Emmett Shine took the bold step of transforming Gin Lane into Pattern Brands, a venture studio that would take brand-building to new heights. With Pattern Brands, Shine set out to do more than just create individual brand identities; he aimed to build a collective of consumer-centric companies under one cohesive umbrella.

One notable success from Pattern Brands was Equal Parts, a cookware company focused on empowering home cooks with high-quality tools and educational resources. This brand, among others, is a testament to Shine's ability to create purpose-driven companies that enrich the lives of their customers.
